Liberia weather is classified as tropical and humid; effectively what this means is that there is little fluctuation in temperatures, which have the tendency to stay predominantly hot and humid throughout the year. Average daily temperatures are between 21° C to 27° C, occasionally soaring to but never exceeding 38° C. When evening sets it, temperatures vary but only slightly so, rarely falling below 20° C. Around the coast of Liberia the almost constant breeze has a calming effect on weather patterns, offering comfort by greatly easing the stifling heat.

Weather in Liberia can be split into two seasons. Dry winters fall between the months of November to March and are laden with hot days and cooler evenings. The dry season rarely experiences precipitation but the rainy season experiences a dry spell during July and August, usually lasting for about two weeks.

Liberia weather during summer is characterized by cloudy days frequented by heavy showers and is between the months May to October. Annual precipitation along the coast is approximately 510 cm lessening to about 200 cm further inland.

There are three different characteristics to precipitation in Liberia weather: extremely wet with torrential rains, followed by small thunderstorms and severe lightning, then wet weather with heavy showers set in, followed by rain filled days interrupted by days of dry weather, the influence of south westerly winds supplying the moisture in most of the cases.

Humidity levels are as high as 82% in the coastal regions during the wet season and 78% in the dry season. During the months between December to March humidity levels can occasionally drop as low as 50% or more, an effect cause by the influence of the dust-laden harmattan winds blowing in from the Sahara.

Liberia weather is almost free of natural disasters, hardly ever experiencing phenomena like earthquakes, tidal waves, hurricanes, or tornados. The only natural disaster that has occurred is a landslide in the Mano River region that claimed several hundreds lives.
